I’m so excited to kick off the new Asheville Wedding Photography blog with this beautiful North Carolina Farm Wedding!
Jess and I had been traveling the country navigating by heart for the better part of two years now and we fell in love with this part of the United States! If I was forced to choose just one word? Stunning! Our RV adventure took us 12,000 miles through 30 states finally landing us here in Western North Carolina! We sold our house in California, it’s official! We beyond excited to call ourselves residents of North Carolina… and myself, an Asheville wedding photographer. Many glorious days in epic countryside await.
Love
Keith and Jamie Jo [I’ll call her “JJ” from here out] are friends of ours from California who did it right. They wanted a small and intimate wedding away from the hustle of southern California. They decided the best place for it was out at JJ’s family farm in North Carolina. I believe as with most farms out here, it was originally a thriving tobacco farm.. although these days it only produces hay. I remember feeling awe as we drove in through the hills and farmlands on the way to “The Farm”. Shooting pics of cemeteries, rolling hills, green fields, leaves that were beginning to change colors. It felt so foreign and new. An old farmhouse sits prominently upfront of the 50+ acre property. A pond, barn, fields, and trees go back almost infinitely and the sounds of nature surround.
Fun
I arrived a day or two early [as I do when I travel to destination weddings] so naturally, we all hung out, went fishing, rode quads, shot guns. Ya know, pretty much the best way to kick off the wedding weekend. There are a ton of rad moments from that day… BUT so I don’t water down the wedding day pics I’ve split this glorious weekend up into 3 parts. You can check our pregame beer-drinking, quad riding gun shootin adventure party pics on my PT. 1 post
Sun
The day of the wedding the sun was smiling down upon a tight gathering of friends n family. JJ looked more beautiful than I’d ever seen her… Keith felt it too and broke into tears as she came down the aisle. Beautiful words were spoken. There was laughter followed by happy tears. Butterflies flew by in the breeze, it was ominous. I captured love in the warm glow as the sun broke across grassy fields and then set behind the trees. Laughter rolled throughout the night. It was one of the best damn nights I’ve had out with friends… some of which I won’t likely see again. Photos help us remember days like these, I cherish.
So many amazing moments came and went… I am thankful to be entrusted by wonderful people to document the amazing moments in their lives. From on the spot surprise proposals, to engagements, weddings, children being born and years watching the families grow and documenting those moments in lifestyle and family sessions. The life of a photographer is a good one.
Annnnnnnnnd because I gave ya a glimpse at the day before pics earlier, and the big day pics above… I might as well post up day after pics too. We kicked it on a lake and crushed a few brews before trying to kayak and balance board. Long days were meant to last. I love getting away for 3 day weekend parties capturing cherished moments.
